REVIEW Passion By Lisa Valdez

Passion By Lisa Valdez

In her second year of mourning lovely young widow Passion Elizabeth Dare never dreamed she would be with a man again and certainly not a complete stranger But amidst the crowds of London's Crystal Palace Passion finds herself discreetly yet insistently pursued by a sensual gentleman who awak. This book made me wonder if I read the same book that the 5 star reviewers didWhat dreckI am by no means sueamish I lurve the trashy erotic romance I do and the hotter the better Unfortunately Passion wasn t hot it was merely profane I have never read sex scenes that have left me uite so coldThe plot when we re treated to it is fairly tight and satisfying Valdez does create a sticky situation for the hero forcing him to choose between his beloved brother and the woman he s grown to love Passion and I m sorry but that name is just straight up retarded ridiculous is also in a bind as Mark is engaged to her cousin who she s uite fond of Valdez certainly did put both her and heroine in a tough spot pitting them against family they lovedUnfortunately the sexxoring takes up 50 60% of the novel and it is DREADFUL It s laugh out loud ridiculous at times with gems like I think my cock is in love with you I m sorry if a man said that to me I d laugh in his face and tell him to put his pants back on The dialog was heavily anachronistic and profane to the point of absurdity I m a friggin working class hockey fan and I don t drop the F bomb half as much as these two do yet I m supposed to believe this is how an earl and a gentlewoman spoke 150 years agoLaughable dialog aside there was the overly clinical sex Valdez got her money s worth out of the word cervix seeing as how it appeared multiple times in every sex scene Sorry honey cervix is not a sexy word especially so when you re making a big deal about this guy s giant schlong banging against it That sounds painful I ve never winced so much at sex I was holding a bag of frozen peas to my cooter in sympathy painsThere was a total lack of sexual tension since they were banging non stop and the romance plot was so relegated to the background that the scant emotional conflict simply could not save this train wreck Really if you re going to write an erotic romance shouldn t the sex be erotic

Ens her long supressed desires After a loveless marriage of restrained propriety Passion abandons herself to true bliss for the first timeIntoxicated by his encounter with the beautiful stranger Mark Randolph Hawk Earl of Langley cannot wait to see her again As a series of rapturous rendezvo. He had given her a gift a gift she had longed for Rapture instead of restraint Desire instead of disinterest Freedom and fulfillment instead of duty and obligation I was waffling between three and four stars but as sat here writing this review and reading back over my highlights I realized that I liked it enough for four stars despite a few complaints I tend to really love erotic historical romances because they tend to have fairly original plotlines and let s face itthose lascivious sex on the brain men who ultimately fall in love with the object of their obsessionthat s hot What held me back from loving this was a couple of particular points1 It was stuffed FULL of romance tropes and cheesy linesIt s hard to stay away from common themes in this genre so I tend to give it a pass But the cheese factor was a little off the charts Melodrama was not created only recently for the New Adult genre No it s been around awhile2 While the sex was initially pretty hot it uickly became somewhat routine and ermlet s just say extremely implausible A ten and a half inch cockthat s impressive However I m here to tell you from a medical standpointthat shit isn t going to fit ANYWHERE inside a woman s body I don t care how many pockets of flesh you penetrate Not to mention the fact that so much of the sex was dedicated to Mark s cramming it in there and working his way into herwhat cervix Nothing goes into the cervix It s hard enough for something to come out All of that being said the rest of the book was marvelous I adore how these two met and yes the sex happens within the first few pages but holy wow was it explosive and titillating They meet at the Crystal Palace inadvertently touch when Mark pulls Passion away from a falling plant and that was the beginning of the end Passion had endured a loveless passionless marriage and when her husband died and left her a widow the only mourning she did was by changing the color of her dress But this one innocent touch instantly lights her up and Mark takes notice I LOVED how he first walks away and then does that epic pause as if arguing with himself before turning back and pursuing what he wants Talk about a turning pointTheir meeting was amazing super sensual intensely passionate The blackmailing incident made me want to rage and although it was an obvious plot device it really did a great job of introducing Mark s brother and giving us a great insight into his childhoodhe is very much the older responsible aristocrat A few favorite uotes some that won t make sense unless you read the book Let me love you forever Let me love you until we are frail and old And then let me love you in heaven For my love for you shall never cease I think my cock is in love with you Some men lose their desire for their wives the moment they step out of church he said softly It has nothing to do with the wife it s merely that a wife is too available too permitted Their zeal is for all the women they can t have Tell me something epic swoon I would love a cup of hot chocolate

Us follows he and his mystery lover find something rare and wonderful blossoming between them But a blackmail scheme against the Earl threatens to destroy everything As a scandal brews each will have to choose between duty and desiretheir love for their families and their love for each other. Well I don t even know what to say about this book I spent all night thinking about what my review would be I tossed and turned How odd is that I gave it 3 stars but I could have given it 1 or I could have given it 5 I just don t know how to rate a book that had parts that I really disliked and parts that I really liked I guess a 3 star rating is fair for a book that brought out such emotions on both sides of the spectrumThe best way I know how to do this is list out all my likes and dislikes Maybe that will give a hint of the plot enough for someone who wants to know if they should read itLikes1 Valdez has a beautiful way with words She can write the hell out of a sex scene So descriptive2 The emotions this books brings forth I felt their pain I was very angry for Mark and the sacrifice he was making I hated his mom and Abigail I felt for Charlotte who turned out to be a great character And Passion her way of seizing what she wanted if only for a short time was admirable3 Very good plot Sometimes I wanted to brush away the sex just to get back to the plot That is kind of rare for me4 Patience Primrose and Matt What interesting stories they will haveDislikes 1 The word uim Negative Ghostrider Make it stop2 All the crying I don t think I have even cried that much in my life And for Mark to cry so much kind of bugged me Put on your big boy briefs buddy Suck it up3 The use of exclamation points When I read a sentence with an exclamation point it sounds very dramatic in my head This story had a ton of them So there was always overacting and extra emotion It seemed a tad overdone4 The epilogue Come on folks I have nursed 2 kids for a decent amount of time and NEVER EVER did I consider doing THAT during the actual nursing of my kid Gross and ew No thank you Two compeletely separate acts in my head Total turnoff

5 stars – HistoricalErotic RomanceThe Good the Bad and the IckyOkay I have to be honest and admit that early on in this I was wondering if I was reading the same book that earned so may five star rave reviews because the explicit language and crude dialogue during the sex scenes although certainly verrry hot made me cringe and snicker at the same time Really it’s sort of how I imagine it would be if Lora Leigh ever

5 StarsTo me Passion felt like two completely different booksFor the first 10o pages or so I found myself caught up in the incredibly vivid and passionate secret love affair between Passion Dare the heroine's name is beyond silly but I got used to it and the intense Mark Randolph Hawk Literally from the first sentence of this novel the sexual chemistry and heat generated by these two characters is enough to re
